Tim Tebow is a free agent in American football and plays at the quarterback position. He is well known for his public displays of Christianity. In college he played for the University of Florida and won the Heisman Trophy in 2007. He helped Florida win their second national championship in 2008 with a record winning score of 13-1 and was named the offensive MVP. At the completion of his college career he was ranked second for passing efficiency and tenth for rushing touchdowns in the NCAA record book. During the same time he became the starting quarterback for Florida Gators. In year 2010 he was selected by the Denver Broncos where he played for two seasons. In 2012 he played for New York Jets. During 2013 and 2015 he played Offseason for New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles respectively.
His career in NFL has been a little inconsistent, owing partially to the team management. He played 2 seasons for the Denver Broncos. He started last three games in his maiden season and helped Broncos defeat Pittsburgh Steelers. Later on he was traded to New York Jets, who soon released him in April 2013. After which he signed a two year no guarantee contract with New England Patriots in June 2013. But in August 2013 he was cut down from the team. Subsequently he signed a one year contract with Philadelphia Eagles in April 2015, but again he was released in September 2015.
Tebow preached Christianity in many schools and villages in the Philippines. In United States he did the same in various prisons, schools, church, youth groups, meetings and conferences. On 8th April, 2012, Easter Sunday a crowd of approximately 20,000 listened to Tebow in Florida. He has helped raise money for many philanthropic causes and launched the Tim Tebow Foundation in January 2010. In 2013 Tim was named a Great Floridian by Governor Rick Scott for his contributions to the progress and welfare of Florida.
Early years of Tim Tebow
Tim’s full name is Timothy Richard Tebow. He was born on 14th August, 1987 in Makati, Philippines. His mother name is Pamela Elaine (Pemberton) and father’s name is Robert Ramsey Tebow II. He was homeschooled. Taking advantage of a new legislation passed in Florida in year 1996, that allowed home schooled students to compete in high school sporting events, Tim attended Trinity Christian Academy. Following this in year 2003 he moved to St. Johns County, to play for a struggling program at Allen D. Nease High School. His spectacular skills and game led him to be named Florida’s Player of the Year and opened future prospects as major college football player.
In his senior year he earned All-State honors title and led his team to state title. During the same time he played in the US Army All American Bowl, when this game was aired on NBC. He attended University of Florida where he played for coach Urban Meyer. During 2006 to 2009 he played for Florida Gators football team. He was promoted to team captain during 2008 and 2009. After winning the Heisman Trophy in 2007, he led his team to BCS Championship in 2008 and a 13-1 season in 2009.
Tim was selected in the first round of 2010 NFL draft by Denver Broncos and on July 29th signed a five year contract with them. He wore number 15 jersey and scored his first NFL touchdown on 17th October. In his first NFL game against Oakland Raiders, Tebow completed 8 passes for 138 yards and 33 yard touchdown pass. He also made the longest touchdown run of 78 yards by any Broncos quarterback. In his second start Broncos defeated Houston Texans by 24-23, where Tebow’s 308 passing yards and touchdown pass helped Broncos comeback. Tebow became the first quarterback in NFL history to rush for a touchdown in all his first three career starts.
